The Galveston Cruise Port is Growing!

Updated: May 17

The Galveston Cruise Port is growing and is the 4th busiest home port in the U.S.

Texas residents (and those nearby) are finding plenty of options to enjoy a cruise without a plane flight to add time and costs to a vacation!

The cruise lines sailing out of Galveston can be divided into two categories: Year-Round and Seasonal.

Year-Round

Year-Round cruise lines have at least one dedicated ship that sails from the port of Galveston all year round.

There have been updates in the last few years to create new terminals to accommodate these ships and parking options have improved as well.

Carnival cruise ship

Carnival Cruise Line began docking their ship, the Celebration, in Galveston in September of 2000.

The Carnival Dream and the Breeze have been regular ships sailing out of Galveston, and in 2023 the Jubilee made Galveston it's home.

If you love sailing Carnival, Galveston has some great options.

Royal Caribbean cruise ship

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line began sailing out of Galveston with the Rhapsody of the Seas in 2001.

In 2022, a beautiful dedicated Royal Caribbean Terminal was completed and now accommodates the Harmony of the Seas, as well as Voyager of the Seas.

MSC cruise ship

Construction is beginning for a new terminal contracted by MSC Cruise Line!

In November 2025, the MSC Seascape expects to begin year round sailings from Galveston.

This Italian owned cruise line offers a European experience on-board their beautiful ships.

Seasonal

Seasonal cruises occur when cruise lines re-position a ship to Galveston for the winter.

When it is too cold to cruise Alaska or Northern Europe, cruise lines will sail the Caribbean sea. Galveston has become a major cruise port for Western Caribbean itineraries.

Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic

Disney Cruise Line began sailing from Galveston in 2012 with the Disney Wonder.

The winter sailings usually have itineraries from December to April, including fun Merry Time themed Sailings.

Galveston has enjoyed the Disney Wonder in the past and currently welcomes the Disney Magic.

Princess Cruise Line Ruby Princess

Princess Cruise Line brought the Ruby Princess to Galveston in December of 2022 and Storyline Travel enjoyed a New Years Cruise on this beautiful ship.

In 2023, The Regal Princess returned to Galveston for the seasonal December to April sailings.

Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Prima

Norwegian Cruise Line brought the beautiful Norwegian Prima to Galveston in 2022.

You can enjoy cruises on the Prima from December to April.

Norwegian cruise Line plans to bring the Viva, Escape and Jade to Galveston.

Cruising from Texas is growing with more cruise line options and many different ships visiting this historic city.

Whether you want to take a quick 5 day vacation, looking for a relaxing 11-night voyage or a one-way cruise ending in different destinations, Galveston has something for every cruiser.

Bon Voyage
